Job Description: The Strategy and Planning PMO Modelling Analyst will support the Head of CTO Change Portfolio Management in delivering strategic portfolio outcomes aligned with organizational goals. This role involves managing portfolio health, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring effective risk management across CTO initiatives. The analyst will also be responsible for developing business cases and facilitating strategic planning cycles to support long-term objectives. Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage CTO Portfolios, monitor and report portfolio health.
- Ensure that portfolios adhere to Frameworks and standards.
- Partner with stakeholders at all levels.
- Daily engagement with Project & Program sponsors and change directors.
- Coordination of annual planning activities for CTO portfolios.
- Prepare portfolio update reports, quality procedures, audits, status reports where required.
- Support the Head of CTO Change Portfolio management with overall delivery of strategic portfolio outcomes.
- Ensure alignment of CTO portfolio and outcomes with organizational strategic requirements.
- Develop and own business cases and benefit validation.
- Engage regularly with senior stakeholders across CTO and Technology.
- Manage organizational risks across CTO effectively.
- Work with programme teams to navigate challenges and escalate effectively.
- Ensure financial investment decisions support CTO long-term strategy.
- Ensure CTO programmes are interlocked with other programmes within HSBC Technology.

- Very good understanding of Portfolio management frameworks, methodologies, and best practice techniques.
- Excellent stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of technology infrastructure products and platforms and fintech.
- Strong understanding of financial planning processes including forecasting and project accounting principles.

Role description:
- The role holder will report to the Head of CTO Change Portfolio Management and work closely with the CTO Transformation and Change Leads and wider teams/stakeholders to deliver common objectives.
- The primary goal is to support the Head of CTO Change Portfolio management with:
- The overall delivery of strategic portfolio outcomes, supporting business vision and purpose through complex and global change portfolios.
- Ensuring the CTO portfolio and outcomes are aligned to the organisational strategic requirements and priorities including technology architecture roadmaps, vendor strategies and evergreening strategy.
- Development and ownership of business cases and benefit validation to support transformation, strategy and fast paced business responses to emerging threats and opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with strong experience of negotiating, documenting and presenting recommendations to deliver shared outcomes.
- Regular engagement and portfolio level reporting to senior stakeholders across CTO and Technology
- Supporting management of organisational risks across CTO by ensuring portfolio risks, issues and dependencies are managed effectively and senior stakeholders are informed / updated where appropriate.
- Ensuring that CTO can meet committed outcomes by working with programme teams to navigate challenges and escalate effectively where needed.
- Ownership and delivery of strategic planning cycles across change portfolios to ensure financial investment decisions supports CTO long term strategy, risk appetite and aligns to HSBC strategy and future business / customer needs
- Ensuring CTO programmes are well interlocked with other programmes within HSBC Technology and dependencies are understood and managed.
- Responsibilities:
- The role holder will not own any governed programmes or projects but will be responsible for driving the quality of project data, improving delivery of CTO change initiatives through the project delivery cycle, tracking delivery and driving improvements to achieve best practice across all aspects of the CTO project life cycle.
- Manage CTO Portfolios, monitor and report portfolio health.
- Ensure that portfolios adhere to Frameworks and standards.
- Partner with stakeholders at all levels
- Daily engagement with Project & Program sponsors and change directors

Essential Skillset/Experience:

- Strong understanding and experience of financial planning processes including forecasting, management of variances and common project accounting principles (e.g. cash, directs and P&L accounting)
- Critical thinking and pro-active problem-solving skills, able to work to under pressure to challenging timescales and deliver at pace.
