As Test Engineer, you will be the sole Test resource embedded in a Scrum Team consolidating legacy instances of Zendesk and Dynamics 365 into a single instance of D365 under MaPS control. As part of the Scrum Team you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of Quality Assurance and Testing are included throughout the process.
A second part of the role will be to automate the test scripts used during the project to leave a legacy automated regression pack that can be incorporated into the wider Regression Pack.

Role overview:
A test engineer is responsible for writing, debugging and refactoring test code. At this role level, you will:
- work closely with software developers to reach a common understanding of the code base and test coverage at unit level
- collaborate with analysts to ensure the required business scenarios are covered in the acceptance test scripts
- work on both functional and non-functional areas of an application
- coach and mentor testers
In this role you will be responsible for the following;
- Represent QA/Testing inside a Scrum Team.
- Evaluate Backlog Items for testability and own any items marked for testing.
- Score tickets to give an indication of effort required.
- Support Product Owner with item prioritisation.
- Participate in Scrum Ceremonies and Artefacts.
- Script and execute tests for tickets that achieve the Acceptance Criteria/DoD.
- Own all tickets assigned to Testing and ensure they meet the standard criteria - Description complete, Acceptance Criteria achievable, evidence recorded, steps to reproduce complete (for bugs).
- Report to QA Manager on progress and issues and escalate any issues that require it.
- Automate all applicable tests so they can be incorporated into the existing Automated Regression Pack.
Skills needed for this role:
Functional testing:
- You can design and execute test cases using standard testing techniques.
- You can come up with different business scenarios for a feature, working with others in the team.
Non-functional testing:
- Design and execute a wide range of non-functional testing techniques in instructed environments.
- You can come up with different business scenarios for a feature, working with others in the team.
Technical breadth:
- You can use a range of technologies for testing.
- You can use one type of tool to write test scripts.
- You can use technologies to design and execute test cases under guidance.
Test analysis:
- You can identify simple patterns and trends.
- You can investigate problems and opportunities in existing processes and contribute to recommending solutions.
- You can work with stakeholders to identify objectives and potential benefits.
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;
- Experience in functional and non-functional testing, with the ability to plan, design, script and execute tests
- Ability to script Automation tests, including aspects such as data matrices and cross-browser functionality
- Experience working as part of a Scrum Team within Agile methodology
- Experience with automation test tools - Selenium, LoadRunner, TestComplete or UFT preferable
- Experience in React
- Strong capability on multiple languages - JavaScript primarily
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
- Testing Methodology certificate (ISTBA/ISEB, BCS, etc.) preferable.

At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. Most of our roles can operate on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, noncontractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs.
