Team Manager required on a West Locality Family Safeguarding team in Walsall Council.

Main Purpose

  • Lead and manage a social work team ensuring responsive services for vulnerable children and families.
  • Contribute to strategic developments in Walsall for children and families with a restorative approach.

Role Specific Duties

  • Full responsibility for delivering services in line with legislation, guidance, and local policy.
  • Make complex decisions related to social service provision for children and families.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies and contribute to the management of services.

Leading People

  • Ensure effective induction of new staff.
  • Monitor staff performance through supervision, observations, and appraisal.
  • Manage team workload, service delivery, and initiate developments.

Managing Resources

  • Effectively manage delegated budgets for Children's Services.
  • Ensure efficient forecasting of budgets and inform Group Manager of budget pressures.

Managing Performance

  • Contribute to planning processes for Children's Services.
  • Use management information systems to drive up performance and quality.
  • Undertake regular case audits to meet statutory obligations and performance targets.

Corporate Duties

  • Comply with and promote the Council's policies and ensure alignment with the Councils strategy.
  • Promote diversity, equality, and the Councils employment policies.

Abilities/Skills

  • Detailed knowledge of assessing the needs of children and families.
  • Extensive knowledge of current childcare legislation.
  • Skills in work planning, problem analysis, and time management.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Significant post-qualifying experience in services to children and families.
  • Experience in supervising social care staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues.
  • HCPC registration and social work qualification
