The Opportunity An exciting new opportunity has arisen to have the chance of working with a leading engineering consultancy that specialises in the development of key projects, spanning across the UK and world, in the nuclear industry. The need has arisen for an experienced Sustainability Advisor to support the development and maintenance of all relevant sustainability regulation, standards, and best practice related to the projects being undertook. The opportunity will allow you to effectively promote a positive sustainability culture by challenging existing ways of working and providing effective ways to offer support and guidance.
Your duties and responsibilities
- As a Sustainability Advisor, you will report to the Project Environmental Manager whilst working across multiple project disciplines.
- You will Maintain, implement, monitor, and report against the project sustainability report.
- Develop, and maintain live project sustainability activities register which includes identifying activities, assessing the significance of their impacts, and undertaking benefits appraisal.
- You will identify, support, and facilitate sustainability initiatives and improvements, such as the development and monitoring of sustainability KPI s.
- Identify and undertake sustainability related assurance activities.
- As a sustainability Advisor, you will support the sustainability governance structure for example through attendance of committees.
- Assess and manage sustainability opportunities and risks.
- You will help to ensure project design & optioneering adequately include and address such sustainability requirements, for example BREEAM.
- You will support the production of reports addressing sustainability issues and advice.
- You will need previous experience of leading and promoting sustainability across multiple disciplines at each stage of the project lifecycle, particularly procurement, planning, design, engineering, decommissioning, construction, and operations.
- Knowledge of practical methods for assessing and improving sustainability.
- Experience of monitoring and reporting against sustainability measures.
- Be confident and have strong influencing skills to manage conflicting demands and opinions.
- Can work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines.
- Highly motivated and capable of managing a large and diverse workload.
