I am currently looking to fill a Band 7 Specialist Nurse/ Independent prescriber ADHD.





This fulltime post is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary Children and Young People s Mental Health Service, carrying out the assessment, diagnosis and management of ADHD and associated conditions. This includes an expectation of independent prescribing as part of a clinical management plan.



You will be able to work both independently and also be an effective team member, contributing to a multi disciplinary approach to clinical management , working with colleagues from services within health and the wider partnership, including schools and the voluntary sector.

Main duties of the job




  • You will work with colleagues to assess, diagnose and manage ADHD and associated conditions.

  • You will act as a Non- medical prescriber for ADHD related medicines, in line with NMC, NICE and national guidelines around medicines optimisation prescribing.

  • You will be a key member of the ADHD multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with other health professionals.

  • You will work closely with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive inclusive and expert assessment of children referred to the service.

  • You will take the lead in preliminary assessments of new referrals using the agreed assessment tools and analysis of the resulting information. Undertake and record observations within schools, clinics, and home settings.

  • You will be a first point of contact for queries, giving advice and signposting to outside agencies in supporting children, young people, their families/carers, schools, and other professionals,

  • You will liaise with services such as Paediatrics, Social Care and Health and education to provide a holistic approach to care.

  • You will work with colleagues in the design, development, and implementation of a rolling programme of parent education, delivered both in groups and individually in a range of settings.

Essential




  • Experience of working within and awareness of issues relating to management of ADHD including assessment of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of children, young people, their families and carers within this client group.
