Role Summary:

As a Specialist Buyer, you will be responsible for delivery of a sustainable supply chain to support business needs. This role will include some strategic activities through optimisation of spend, collaboration with 3rd parties and developing ways of working through continuous improvement exercises and operation delivery such as demand forecasting, PO management, materials sourcing, scheduling and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out RFQ/RFP/RFI (RFx) activities to support programme demands
  • Issuing RFx
  • Receiving, interpreting, and summarising responses
  • Negotiations
  • Schedule to needs and preferential terms and conditions
  • Implementation of Contract agreements with appropriate customer flow-downs
  • Plan and manage engagement business stakeholder teams to understand supply chain requirements, and assure delivery of supplier performances
  • Maintaining ERP systems
  • Process and amend contract documentation to keep current and accurate
  • Supplier Relationship Management, Supplier assessment, Performance monitoring, Appropriate engagement from suppliers/ programmes
  • Working with senior supply chain team members as required to ensure cohesive approaches
  • Adhere to and embed the social value initiatives laid out in the companies Code of Conduct into working practice.
  • Monitor and manage supply issues, providing status updates and reports as requested

Competency/Skill requirements

  • Adept at problem-solving relatively complex issues and able to develop solutions to a variety of problems
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholders
  • Competent in PowerPoint and face-to-face presentation delivery
  • Strong customer focus
  • Proven track record of building strong supplier relationships
  • Evidenced success in negotiating and managing subcontracts
  • Experience and understanding of how supply chain operates within an organisation, including Purchase to Pay cycle
  • CIPS qualified/ working towards
  • Knowledge of Import/Export control including US export controls
