Job Purpose
The Architecture team is part of the Digital directorate at Homes England. The team supports the business in designing, delivering and iterating digital, data and technology services, which are core to providing modern business services.
Working with technology peers in Homes England, the Government Digital Service (GDS) and wider Government you will help define and architect solutions, as well as advising on technology choices that support the organisation and align to its strategic objectives.
The organisation is currently undertaking a large technology change that will deliver multiple new systems that underpin all services and operations. Experience with large transformation programmes delivering D365/ERP solutions will be essential in this role.
This is a critical role for an experienced Solutions Architect who will provide support to the programme and project teams by delivering architecture solution design, describing transitional states to senior stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
As well as project teams, you will work with business SME s, development, platforms and infrastructure teams to provide clear frameworks for delivery of technical solutions. Additionally, you will have good knowledge of DevOps principles and be familiar with iterative approaches to architecture and development.
You will be expected to maintain consistency between solutions and ensure that architecture standards are adhered to. You will also develop solution design documentation to organisational architecture standards, with alignment to the architecture strategy, roadmaps and reference architectures as well as helping to govern against these directions.
As a Solutions Architect (D365), your main responsibilities will be to:
- Understand and articulate the organisation s ecosystem and its inter-dependencies, ensuring quality and integrity of new solutions.
- Design solutions to meet user and business needs and align with Homes England s strategies, policies, procedures and standards.
- Guide projects in making the correct technology decisions, promoting reuse, sustainability and scalability to achieve value for money.
- Translate technical concepts between systems engineering, delivery management and service management, as well as developing and documenting the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any solution.
- Provide a consistent set of solution views, that communicate and describe the construction of the solution to all stakeholders, making the complex simple to understand.
- Work with internal stakeholders to support discovery and design work, blending technical and communication skills.
- Communicate clearly and provide assurance to the Technical Design Authority that technical solutions align with Homes England strategy, design principles and standards.
- Work within the Homes England Architecture practice to maintain architectural principles, standards, blueprints, roadmaps and transitions states that underpin all technical design and delivery.
- Lead architecture work within projects to embed the architectural design gates within the overall governance process ensuring reference information is published, maintained and readily available
Essential:
- A sound knowledge of architecture methodologies and frameworks and experience of their application e.g., TOGAF
- Experience of modern IT paradigms including event-based architecture design, containerisation, microservices and loose coupling.
- An excellent understanding of a broad range of technologies with experience of designing ERP solutions and including Microsoft O365, Power Platform, Dynamics, Azure.
- Experience of an API-first and services-led design approach, with the ability to use business requirements, user stories, data standards, and integration patterns to help to define services and APIs.
- A sound knowledge of cloud technologies, cloud hosting, container, serverless, and networking design patterns, tools and best practice (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure)
