SR163/TP137 PC Representative – Substation Construction
Location: Initially based in South Wales, transitioning to site-based roles across Newport & Pembroke
Contract Type: CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
Rate: Competitive (based on experience)
About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced SR163/TP137 PC Representative to lead the delivery of a new National Grid substation project in South Wales. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically competent and safety-driven professional with a proven track record in live HV substation environments. You will initially be office-based, coordinating survey and mobilisation works, preparing the Construction Phase Plan, and leading early-stage project delivery. As the project progresses, you will move full-time on-site, managing operational delivery across Newport and Pembroke.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the PC Rep in accordance with SR163 & TP137 standards
- Lead and manage all phases of civil construction on live substations
- Develop and implement the Construction Phase Plan (CPP)
- Coordinate and oversee survey and preparatory works
- Ensure full compliance with National Grid safety protocols and NSIs
- Liaise with National Grid, contractors, stakeholders, and the wider delivery team
- Conduct regular site audits, progress reviews, and manage day-to-day operations
Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience managing civil works on National Grid HV substations
SR163 accreditation – Person in Charge (PC)
NG NSI 8 Full – National Grid Safety Instruction
HS(G)47 – Avoiding Danger from Underground Services
SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme & Full First Aid at Work
TWS – Technical Works Supervisor
Required Skills:
Technical competence in HV substation environments, safety-driven approach, project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with National Grid projects, strong communication and leadership skills.
