Senior Digital Portfolio Manager Inside IR35
Contract Term: 6 months

Location: Hybrid Leeds, Blackpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield or London 2-3 days per week
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As a Senior Digital Portfolio Manager, you will focus on managing the portfolio of digital projects or delivery activities within a Service or across DWP Digital. This will include ensuring delivery of optimal outcomes which contribute to the department's aims and delivers on its digital strategy.
Within this role you will be responsible for tracking, analysing, reporting and assuring delivery of outcomes within your portfolio, supporting delivery teams in accelerating delivery, unblocking issues and ensuring proper controls and risk mitigation procedures are in place and reporting on delivery across multiple projects within a portfolio.
As a Senior Digital Portfolio Manager your main responsibilities would be to:
- Ensure compliance with standards and adhere to all governance and assurance activity for the Service Teams or DWP Digital supporting delivery of clear product and governance roadmaps.
- Lead the team in identifying and managing inter-project dependencies, ensuring where delivery is at risk, actions are in place to mitigate.
- Analyse and identify future risks and blockers, using tooling and information to spot planning and delivery risks, escalating to senior leadership as necessary.
- Be responsible for identification and prioritisation of new work that aligns to the department's digital strategy, including addressing resource implications.
- Provide expert insight and advice to the project setup process, including managing and prioritising demand through the Digital Front Door and ensuring resources are available to deliver.
- Be accountable for the overall health of your portfolio.
Essential:
- Experience in a project management role covering the full project lifecycle (either Waterfall or Agile delivery method).
- Experience of leading or working within a governance framework in the public or private sector.
- Have worked within a portfolio environment or Portfolio team.
- Led or have experience of creating dashboards, working with milestone data, creating reports for stakeholders at all levels
- Experience of managing senior stakeholders, at senior levels of government, including presenting and reporting at senior level.
- Experience of analysing multiple information sources, producing reports appropriate for senior audiences, including making recommendations for changes.
- Experience of leading appropriate governance procedures.
- Experience of identifying and responding to issues with appropriate methods to unblock and resolve.
- Experience of managing risks at the board level.
Desirable:
- Public Sector experience.
- Awareness of and formal training in Management of Portfolios, project and programme management would be beneficial.
- Experience of Power BI and ServiceNow.
