We have a new opportunity with our utilities client for two Senior Civil Engineers based in Selby. The project at hand is to manage the demolition & reconstruction of a high level chimney stub.Here, our client is looking for two Chimney Stub Supervisors, one for their day shift and evening shift:
- Day shift (expected 8-13 hours) - Mid March - Early November
- Evening Shift (expected 8-13 hours) - Early June - Mid September
Working shifts will be up to seven days per week on a 13 day fortnight during a 65 day 24hr working period and the dates outside of the 65 day 24hr working period will be a standard 5 day week (37hrs).
The role of each supervisor is to manage the demolition & reconstruction of a high level chimney stub. Works will be approximately 300m from the ground, so applicants must not have a fear of heights. In accordance to the clients policy, applicants must either be clean shaven and undertake a face fit test for an FFP3 mask or have an powered air fed respirator if not clean shaven. The role will require competence and relevant experience to review risk assessments, method statements and supervision of onsite works with the ability in interpret and read construction drawings.
Must haves:
- Exceptional safety culture, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations/site rules at all times
- Clean shaven and face fit for FFP3 mask or have a powered air fed respirator if not clean shaven
- Previous experience managing projects that involve working at height, temporary works and lifting
- Previous experience managing Subcontractors
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Ability to read construction programmes
- In situ-concrete construction experience
- Demolition experience
- Ability to perform quality/progress checks
- Ability to work independently reporting to Team Manager ensuring daily records (including daily diaries and safety audits) are maintained and filed within the company filing system
- Ability to perform equipment, material, and routine site inspections
- Attend coordination and progress meeting
- Ability to focus and keep calm under pressure
- Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Safety management or ex trade experience that has moved into a Supervisory role
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
- Availability to work prolonged 12hr shift pattern throughout the 65 day outage window
