Senior Accountant - Children's Social Care

We are working with a large Council in the midlands who require the interim assistance of Senior Accountant for their Children’s Social Care Finance Team.

Purpose:

• To work with the relevant Directorate Leadership Team to agree and deliver the key financial priorities
• To ensure the financial resources available to the Directorate are effectively used and managed
• To act as the finance lead in the delivery of specific projects and programmes
• Effectively support the Councils Section 151 Officer

Duties:

• Co-ordination of the financial forecast reporting and play a key role in the strategic budget process
• Provide high-level technical expertise or professional advice, to maintain and/or develop systems and processes
• Assist in the monitoring and recording of the service teams output against performance targets
• Prepare reports of a high standard to DLTs, the Corporate Leadership Team, Member Executive, Scrutiny and other Senior Manager meetings
• Provide Technical Accountancy support on both revenue and capital requirements
• Ensure the final accounts process is completed including the revenue, capital management accounts closedown and balance sheet integrity
• Assist with the production of any relevant financial publications

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Fully qualified Accountant (Current Member of CCAB or CIMA)
• Experience of working in a local government finance department
• Experience of managing a financial team
• Ability to act as a representative for the Assistant Director of Finance
