Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Wigan Council's Fostering Team. This a full time role offering an amazing pay rate of 35 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • To assess, supervise and support Friends and Family Foster Carers and prospective Special Guardians to a high standard.
  • To support children remaining within friends and family networks where safe and possible if they are unable to remain with their parents.
  • Prioritise safeguarding and placement stability whilst ensuring practice is regulatory compliant and improving experiences and outcomes for children and young people.
  • You will be a team player and innovative problem solver.
  • You will be able to work using initiative and have strong interpersonal skills to not only engage carers, but to build robust relationships with colleagues.
  • Provide high-quality social work practice to improve outcomes for children.
  • Ensure that practice is underpinned by the Deal principals and BeWigan behaviours and our practice standards, and that the Signs of Safety model is embedded in our work with children and families, by championing this model.
  • Undertake comprehensive Fostering and SGO assessments of prospective Carers.
  • Supervise and support foster carers in meeting the needs of looked after children.
  • Recognise strengths, vulnerabilities and attitude to change to help keep children, young people and their families healthy, happy and safe.
  • Ensure child-focussed assessments clearly bring out the voice of the child and they are reviewed regularly.
  • Manage a complex case load, regularly undertaking bespoke direct work with children and families to help address identified individual support needs and reduce the risk of harm.
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with partners including Start Well, education services, police and the NHS.
  • Attend court as and when necessary.
  • Contribute to the overall development of services for children and their families.

Requirements

  • Social Work England registered
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Social Work Degree or equivalent
