Liverpool (remote working with occasional travel, 1 day a month)

VAT and Tax Officer required to join a public sector organisation based in Liverpool on a full time, temporary basis. My client is looking for a committed and highly motivated individual who is an experienced VAT and Tax Officer to join their dynamic and supportive Finance function with the opportunity for remote working and flexible working hours.

As the VAT and Tax Officer you will support a comprehensive VAT and Tax advice service across the organisation alongside other duties below;

Key responsibilities of the VAT and Tax Officer

• Submission of VAT,CIS and Tax returns
• Consult with Tax Advisors and Auditors providing VAT, CIS and Tax advice
• Always keep the VAT Shelter tracker updated
• Ensure the coding structure accounts for VAT
• Assist and liaise with the wide Finance Team providing advice on transactions from a tax perspective
• Administer the VAT, CIS and Corporation Tax registrations
• Provide Tax training to employees across the business
• Assist the Head of Tax in managing relationships with HMRC and other stakeholders

Required skills and experience of the VAT and Tax Officer

• Ideally Part qualified/ATT/QBE
• Recent accounting and data analysis experience
• Knowledge and experience of VAT, CIS and Tax returns (desirable)
• Experience of managing large sets of financial data within Excel
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to interrogate, extract and analyse data from a financial management system
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written
