strong>Senior Project Manager required to work with a large government department. This is an initial 6-month contract, paying 600 per day, inside IR35, largely remote working.

You will require active SC clearance for this role.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will have a change or legal or policy or legislative background to implement new legislation.

Responsibilities:
  • Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls.
  • Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives for the team. Develop and maintain Project Plan. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors.
  • Providing clarity on the project timeline to define what, when and how activities will be organised to ensure the outcomes of a project can be achieved, with the resources available.
  • Manage effective transition between project phases.
  • Develop and draft the Business Case and/or support development of the programme business case, with input from specialists as necessary.
  • Develop the budget and track delivery within budget.
  • Identify skill requirements; and deploy and develop resources. Manage or direct a medium sized team.
  • Deliver the agreed Business Case benefits and outcomes. Ensure appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy is in place and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the Business Case.
  • Ensure strategic and operational risks and issues are identified, prioritised, assessed, and appropriate mitigating actions developed, implemented and monitored throughout the life of the project.
  • Engage with assurance reviews and support action on recommendations. Organise assurance processes such as gateway reviews, as required.
  • Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Provide support, guidance and coaching for the project team.

Essential Criteria:
  • Experience having delivered a policy project.
  • Significant experience in delivering either complex or high-risk projects within agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Credible and proactive in dealing with a broad and complex range of stakeholders, with the confidence to engage with senior officials and ministers.
  • Be used to operating with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Have practical experience in actively managing project risks.
  • Be an experienced people manager, able to build and develop a high performing, flexible and motivated project teams.
