Power BI Specialist - Remote - London

We are recruiting for an Power BI Specialist experienced in developing projects within the PowerBI system stack including architectural and code standard adherence.

This will be on an initial 5 month contract, mainly remote working with occasional travel to London and Outside IR35.

Overall Role Summary:

This role is responsible for the following:

  • Technical lead for development projects within the PowerBI system stack including architectural and code standard adherence.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the rest of the team including signoff on peer review for Quality Assurance standards.
  • Manage the Cloud and On Prem infrastructure supporting the system stack including maintenance support, upgrades and vendor management.
  • Evaluation and recommendation on potential software solution and process optimisation.
  • Responsible for delivery of major technical development projects in line with roadmap.
  • Utilise cross functional and cross divisional relationships with other technical teams to synergise on both technical delivery and commercial negotiation.
  • Provide mentoring support to other members of the Power BI teams.
  • Specialism in Visualisation & Narrative for Story Telling with Data

Key Accountabilities:

  • Technical system expert style role supporting the Controlling, FP&A and M&A teams alongside Group Finance to align technical developments to strategic reporting direction.
  • Working with the other pillars of Finance Ops to convert system specifications into production grade modules to facilitate accuracy across financial forecasting.
  • Share best practices across the company, functions, and locations, especially in relation to transferable code module adoption and transplantation.
  • Design ingestion routines to tackle data interoperability between Informa systems.
  • Review and sign off on data architecture supporting core models including star schema, OLAP data design and automation scripting modules.
  • System expert on the suite of software stack systems and continually update own skillset through own learning and project involvement.
  • Establish and develop ongoing relationships with the teams being supported and wider cross divisional technical teams, including the T&F Technology and Product teams.
  • Create a strong data security structure that adheres to protocols
  • Ad hoc analysis and project work as required.

Knowledge and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have knowledge & experience of:

  • Financial reporting / forecasting / budgeting
  • Qualified accountant ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent experience preferable
  • At least six years of demonstrable Microsoft Power BI technical experience is essential with SAP experience a benefit.
  • A demonstrable knowledge of PowerBI architecture and data schema modelling is essential
  • Ability to manage and work in an Agile sprint cycle and efficiently operate PM software such as Trello or JIRA
  • Strong data literacy and a comprehensive knowledge of DAX, SQL, Python, MDX, JAVA, AWS RDS, MDM and the wider Microsoft tech stack are required
  • Attention to detail is a necessity
