Company Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our leading software data analytics clients! They are currently looking for an experienced MySQL DBA to join their team for a six-month contract.

Required Skills/Experience

Strong MySQL DBA experience

Azure Cloud experience is a must

Database Administration experience working in a "PRODUCTION Environment" on cloud and non-cloud databases.

Should have experience on working with cross-discipline teams - devops, support, app dev etc.

Any level of cloud architecture experience

Looking for a specialist MySQL DBA with Migration experience from on-premise to Azure Cloud.

Migration experience to AWS Aurora then to Azure cloud.

Strong Terraforms experience

Data Storage experience is very nice to have.

Enterprise-level experience is required.

The aim is to have no downtime during the migration.

Five TB of data to be migrated.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

Diagnosis and resolution of complex database issues.
Working with diverse technical and non-technical teams, including Development, QA, IT Operations, Customer Operations and Project Management teams.
Write and maintain DBA documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
Train junior-level staff as necessary, ensuring they are up to speed on critical processes and technologies.
Responsible for installation of new database infrastructure and equipment, as well as monitoring its stability.
Responsible for pro-actively keeping on top of security updates and making recommendations to apply major version upgrades.
This position requires On-Call rotation for off peak hours and is expected to cover out of hours maintenance activities when required.

Desirable Skills/Experience

Use of orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation
Knowledge of change control and associated procedures.
Familiarity with Log Management tools eg - Elastic Stack, Graylog or Splunk
Good knowledge of enterprise level networking and concepts (TCP/IP, VPNs, Firewalls).
Further public cloud knowledge and practical skills, around services such as compute (eg EC2), storage (eg S3, EBS), security (eg SGs, NACL), etc.
System administration of Linux/Windows.
System and application monitoring experience - eg Nagios, Cloudwatch, Grafana, Prometheus etc.
