Summary of the M&E Estimator role:
Our client is seeking an experienced interim Mechanical & Electrical Estimator to analyse and assess project requirements, and to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for installation/refit projects (value up to 12m). The M&E Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimations align with project specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
M&E Estimator Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Project Assessment:
- Review project documents, specifications, and drawings to understand mechanical and electrical requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather information on project scope, objectives, and constraints.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather relevant data.
Cost Estimation:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical components, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Utilise cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Identify and quantify potential risks and contingencies associated with the project.
Bid Preparation:
- Prepare comprehensive and well-organised bid proposals in response to invitations to tender.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes for materials and services.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment between cost estimates and project execution strategies.
Cost Control & Value Engineering:
- Monitor project costs and provide support in identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Engage in value engineering processes to optimise project costs without compromising quality and functionality.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, client presentations, and negotiations as needed.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and organised documentation of estimates, proposals, and related correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and technological advancements in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Provide feedback to enhance estimating processes and contribute to the improvement of departmental procedures.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical and Electrical Estimator in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Location: Working from Home (UK and International travel will be required)
