Company Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Linux Architect for a 6 months contract.


Job Responsibilities/Objectives
You will be responsible for designing the Linux End State Configuration, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure; also, to collaborate with other operations resources to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. You will be willing to roll your sleeves up, get stuck in and become an integral part of the team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own and solving them accordingly.

1. Provide hands on technical leadership to the project and ensure compliance with the company's security standards
2. Work with systems integration to build automation for the Linux estate (to include hardening standard and approved OS versions)
3. Identify, design, and deploy monitoring and configuration tool required to effectively manage the estate/ ensure ITS have root access to all servers
4. Deploy missing agents to all Linux servers, commence the hardening and alignment of existing servers to approved OS versions
5. Work with operational resources to resolve technical issues associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, and apps
6. Provide training and ensure the smooth handover of the project to the support team
7. Document and update all relevant documentation including solution design for the Linux target End state configuration

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

1. Experience with Linux servers in on-premise virtualised environments and (Cloud AWS & Azure) across all OS distros including Red hat, Ubuntu, SuSe and CentOS
2. Experience performing a similar Linux architect role, specifically designing a configuration management, automated Linux server build strategy and security hardening deploying across both cloud and on premise environments.
3. Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages (i.e., Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby)
4. load balancing, firewalls etc.
5. Experience with configuration management and application deployment software such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef and BigFix
6. Previous experience of working within a structured IT environment (incident management, change management, problem management etc.)
7. Experience with managing Linux running on Hyper-V and VMware
