The business is on a mission to redefine access to auto finance and vehicle ownership; they work across many emerging markets as well as established markets in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The successful Legal Counsel will support the business debt finance and treasury transactions across the international markets in which they operate.
The legal team is collaborative, engaged, forward thinking and adept in working within a fast-paced environment, which requires outside the box thinking.
The successful individual can expect to:
- Lead on the drafting, review and/or negotiation of loan/facility agreements and security documents
- Project manage transactions from term sheet to completion, including collating and the completion of conditions precedent
- Work with external counsel in various jurisdictions to understand how local law impacts transactions
- Monitor developments in international debt finance law and work closely with external counsel and stakeholders to ensure compliance
- Manage the delivery of work through more junior team members
- Support wider team members on corporate transactions, expansion and fintech and data workstreams
- Draft and maintain internal policies to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations
- Handle other project-based work within the scope of the legal department responsibilities on an as-needed basis
It is highly likely that successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
- Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales (or another commonwealth jurisdiction such as Australia or New Zealand, with relevant UK based experience)
- Ideally between 3-8 years PQE in handling debt finance matters (although candidates outside this bracket will be considered)
- Strong experience in handling debt finance matters
- Experience across a broad range of financing transactions, including corporate lending, asset finance and securitisation
- Project management skills
- Experience working on international finance transactions
- Experience working In House within a debt heavy business with an asset focus (i.e. shipping, aircrafts, car manufacturers)
- The ability to distil complex information into clear and concise advice
- The ability to work closely with and build a good rapport with key stakeholders
- The capacity to support a business that is fast moving and international
Candidates who possess experience working In House within a debt heavy business with an asset focus (i.e. shipping, aircraft, car manufacturers) will be of notable interest.
Successful candidates should be able to start a new role in early 2024 and be able to commit to a contract of 6 months in duration. Ideally, candidates will be able to spend 1-2 days per week in their London office, although a fully remote role (based in the UK) will be considered for the right candidate.
