About the Project:
HAST (Highly Active Storage Tank) 9 Base Jacket Capping and Venting involves modification to the cooling water base jacket piping system. The aim of this is to remove the potential for hydrogen to concentrate within the jacket and to provide base
jacket flushing capability. This will enable HALES (High Active Liquor Evaporation and Storage) Post Operation Clean Out to commence on HAST 9.
About the Role:
The HAST 9 Base Jacket Capping and Venting project is currently in the define phase.
The HF scope will be:
Adhoc support to Safety & Risk Management (S&RM) and Operations Functions.
Assistance with Regulatory Engagement.
Identification/Management of HF Issues and Assumptions.
Checking of the Operational Safety Memorandum.
Production of a substantiation schedule.
Production of a substantiation report.
For Future HALES projects eg HAST Volume Recovery, Old Side Reagents, Future Cooling Capability, generic scope will be:
Adhoc support to Safety & Risk Management (S&RM) and Operations Functions.
Assistance with Regulatory Engagement.
Identification/Management of HF Issues and Assumptions.
Define (prelim):
Define HF Critical Tasks ie those that demand HF scrutiny, are safety significant etc.
Produce Scope & Strategy document.
HF support to Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs).
Check safety functions requirements specification.
Provide confidence statement that safety function requirements can be met.
Define (detail):
Check safety functions requirements specification/Design Safety Memo.
Produce substantiation schedule.
Produce substantiation report.
Check Operational Safety Memorandum.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Previous HF Assessor experience.
Significant experience providing integrated HF design and safety case support in the nuclear industry.
Sellafield experience would be an advantage.
Significant knowledge and experience working within the UK nuclear regulatory framework.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of integrated team.
