An excellent opportunity has arisen with my client, a truly global, Fortune 500 company. We are seeking a highly motivated Data Protection Associate to join on an initial 6-week contract to assist the General Counsel/DPO with the fallout from a cyber event. This is an assistant position and whilst knowledge of data protection law is essential, the candidate will not be required to work wholly autonomously and will be supervised and assisted by the company General Counsel/DPO.
Duties include:
- Assisting with the response to Data Subject Access Requests that the Company has received and other data related queries
- Helping to complete documentation which will form part of the company's data inventory
- Engaging with teams across Payroll, Finance, IT, HR, Marketing, Tax etc. obtaining answers from each team to complete questionnaires about the personal data held on business systems
- Other ad hoc duties related to data protection and the data breach that occurred following the cyber attack
The successful candidate will have/be:
- A working knowledge of the application of GDPR obligations within an organisation in terms of risk and ensuring compliance
- Be able to assist the DPO with responding to Data Subject Access Requests - including reviewing system data for relevance in relation to the request received, redacting documents where they contain third party personal information etc
- An understanding of the need to keep third party personal data safe and be able to follow policies and procedures in this regard
- Good organisational skills and an ability to manage large volumes of data
- The ability to update Excel in relation to the tracking of data subject queries and requests.
- Good IT skills and familiarity with all Microsoft products including Teams
- A working understanding of the terms 'data controller' and 'data processor' and how to identify each in a business context
- Happy to have independent calls with other teams across the company to obtain the information needed to complete the data inventory
Rate & Duration:
- 250 - 300 p/day Inside IR35
- 6 weeks initial contract rolling thereafter
- Fully Remote
