Data Engineer
6M remote contract and should fall O/IR35.

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer excited about navigating a complex data ecosystem within a large organization. Adaptability to both old and new technologies is crucial. The ideal candidate believes in automation, values well-documented processes, and is comfortable validating hypotheses manually. Collaboration with stakeholders, data architects, and product teams is essential.

Key Requirements:
1. Proficiency in modern development practices and infrastructure deployment (DevOps), including Git, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD (Github Actions).
2. Extensive experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, covering data storage, processing, and analysis.
3. In-depth expertise in data integration and ETL processes, with the ability to design and implement complex data pipelines (dbt).

Additional Qualifications:
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Strong understanding of database systems, including relational, graph, and vector databases, with expertise in query performance tuning and optimization.
- Deep knowledge of data warehouses, particularly BigQuery, including designing and implementing efficient data models.
- Familiarity with data security and privacy principles, ensuring compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex data-related issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, working closely with cross-functional teams to address data requirements and challenges.

Good to have:
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and algorithms, enabling the integration of predictive, semantic, and analytical models into data engineering workflows.
