We are looking to onboard several Data Architects to join a Central Government Organisation on their largest programme. They are looking to set up their own data architecture centre / function within the programme as an exemplar for other programmes due to its size. Currently, data is very compartmentalised throughout the programme, so they are looking for these Architects to come in and go out to the wider projects and areas of the programme to understand how data is being used, what the business actually wants and help turn it into solutions.
The role will entail:
Providing a data architecture service that will help the team understand the business needs and turn this into solutions
A hands-on approach, with the data strategy already aligned, they will need the Data Architect to help with designing data models, metadata systems and work with Technical Architect's to make sure the systems are designed in accordance to the architectural approach.
Be comfortable talking about the current issues they are identifying and the work being done
Working in an ambiguous environment, not always with a set goal in mind but asking the right questions to understand the data landscape
Understanding the programme overall and being able to navigate this
Working closely with Business Analysts to gather data requirements
The right candidate will need experience in:
Demonstrate skills in data modelling, ideally within Central Government and a major programme context
Helping to build, design or integrate services by contributing code, testing technologies and producing rapid prototypes.
The ability to take a balanced approach to technology selection and to effectively communicate with stakeholders, senior management and non-technical audiences, presenting clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data.
Common sense / proactive in their approach
Government experience is desirable but open to private sector experience.
Proven experience of bringing diverse teams together and designing data architecture that works for different business areas
Good knowledge of data governance, metadata, data security and privacy
Rate: 600-800 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 6 months initially, scope to renew
Working Pattern: Remote
