p>Join our team as a Child Protection Social Worker in Nottingham, where you'll take a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This role involves working directly with families, assessing risks, and implementing plans to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Intervention: Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families referred for child protection concerns, identifying risks and needs promptly and accurately.
  2. Collaboration and Partnership: Collaborate with multi-agency teams including health, education, police, and other relevant services to gather information, share insights, and develop coordinated intervention plans.
  3. Safeguarding Plans: Develop and implement effective safeguarding plans in partnership with families and professionals, ensuring they address identified risks and support the best interests of the child.
  4. Direct Work: Engage directly with children and young people, applying child-focused approaches to understand their perspectives and advocate for their needs.
  5. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, produce clear and concise reports, and contribute to case conferences and court proceedings as required.
  6. Support and Advocacy: Offer support, advice, and advocacy to children, families, and carers, ensuring they understand processes and have access to appropriate services and resources.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Accredited Social Work qualification (e.g., BA, MA, or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience in child protection social work, ideally within a local authority setting.
  • Knowledge: Sound understanding of child development, relevant legislation, and child protection procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and multi-agency teams effectively.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills to assess complex situations and make informed decisions in the best interest of the child.
  • Empathy and Resilience: Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, maintaining a professional approach while supporting families in difficult circumstances.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with current legislation, policies, and best practices in child protection through continuous professional development.
