Job Description: The Python Architect role is a contract position based in Leeds, requiring an experienced professional to design and implement high-performing backend systems using Python. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical leadership skills and a deep understanding of Python frameworks, microservices, and cloud ecosystems. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that technology solutions align with business needs while maintaining architectural integrity. The role is hybrid, requiring three days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of reliable and scalable backend architectures built on Python.
  • Establish coding guidelines and technical standards for engineering teams.
  • Lead code walkthroughs, technical design reviews, and mentor team members.
  • Partner with product managers, analysts, and engineers to align business needs with technology solutions.
  • Uphold architectural integrity and ensure adherence to agile practices.
  • Recommend and validate the use of frameworks, development tools, and infrastructure platforms.
  • Monitor and enhance system performance, uptime, and security posture.
  • Take part in sprint planning, effort estimation, and risk assessments.

Skills Required:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 6 years working extensively with Python.
  • Deep knowledge of Python-based frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
  • Proven background in building microservices and REST API-driven applications.
  • Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Strong command of cloud ecosystems like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency with containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • In-depth understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and clean code practices.
  • Experience using version control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and automated pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, debugging, and resolution skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Consulting background is a plus.

You’ll be the technical backbone behind innovative digital solutions that are secure, scalable, and future-ready.
