  • Understanding the dependencies between the projects and interdependencies with other programmes, and impact of delays on critical path.
  • Understanding and being able to articulate multiple complex risks and issues in simple terms, and supporting project managers in ensuring mitigating actions are in place.
  • Working with project and delivery managers to understand respective resourcing requirements.
  • Gaining and maintaining a clear understanding of initiatives that could impact the Programme plan.
  • Assisting in ensuring that there are no overlaps between the work streams within the plan in particular benefits realisation double counting.
  • Keeping tasks/projects on track for monthly reporting and submission of documentation for approval.
  • Working with the Portfolio Enablement Manager to understand governance requirements and help support its use across the Programme.
  • Ensuring that input to progress reports, plans, schedules etc. is provided on time and to the desired quality by negotiating with, and chasing, busy colleagues.
  • Works under a broad direction so will be expected to work largely unsupervised; only referring decisions upwards when they involve novel or contentious elements.
  • The post holder will, on occasions, deputise for the Programme Manager as needed.
  • There are no annual appraisal responsibilities.
  • The post holder will be expected to lead and influence staff and managers at all grades across the Portfolio to ensure tasks are on track and actions are completed on time.
  • Daily contact with Project and Programme Managers, and Portfolio staff
  • Regular contact with the Divisional Financial Controller
  • Regular contact with SRO and other senior stakeholders.
  • Essential

    • Organisational and planning skills;
    • Knowledge of and experience of project and programme management processes;
    • Being able to multi-task and prioritise;
    • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Microsoft Project
    • Excellent communication skills, - written, verbal, and representative;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong personal effectiveness and pro-activity;
    • Good analytical skills and ability to represent complex landscapes in simple diagrams, tables, dashboards and reports.
