This Processes and Projects Data Analyst will report to the Income Processes and Projects Manager and will work within the Income Management/Commercial directorate based in our Crawley office. You will be a Fixed Term Contract employee (18 - 24 months) - and this position can be offered as full or part time.

You will attract a salary of 41,432.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose:

To deliver regulatory and business change projects for Income Management on time, budget, and to a high standard. Operate as a centre of excellence to provide guidance for all subjects around Income Management data and systems.

Dimensions:

The Income Management Processes & Projects team supplemented by IS and externally provided resources is responsible for the development and projects for the entire portfolio of Income Management systems. These somewhat niche/unique systems hold our 8.5 + million MPAN records, record the 80TWh of electricity that enters and leaves our distribution systems, and deliver billing and collection services for our 1.6bn+ per annum of income. The systems deliver compliance with our regulatory obligations under the Balance and Settlement code. You will ensure that the data and systems are regulatory compliant to mitigate legal and possible material financial sanction for failure to comply.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Support delivery of the MHHS Income Management Programme and MPAN migration related tasks.
  2. You will undertake technical analysis of data and work with the IS team to develop/support data migration methodologies and processes.
  3. Support producing test scenarios and test scripts (including test data and expected results) working with the technical workstream to deliver data/environment requirements and identify technical dependencies.
  4. You will provide reporting to the Data lead and Programme Management, identifying issues and will escalate if required. Prioritise and organise work according to risk and deadlines.
  5. Use acquired technical systems knowledge to support the business with systems, data, and process expertise to resolve 'BAU' issues in operational timeframes.
  6. You will support Income Management in undertaking data quality improvements. Present insight based analysis to other departments and to senior management.
  7. Work with the business to understand and develop solutions for systems and data related issues and requirements. Critically evaluate issues, compare to external best practice and prepare business cases to justify the required action.
  8. You will ensure systems documentation is correct and up to date for MHHS in-scope systems.
  9. Use technical knowledge to support relevant data management activity, including the correct setup of data in systems to improve performance and resolve performance issues.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally qualified to degree level in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Good understanding of the strategic principles and practices of data management.
  • Experience working in a project environment.
  • Experience in data migration gained from at least two years of experience on IT projects.
  • A good technical understanding of the different stages of the test life cycles such as SIT, functional, and regression testing (including test scripting, preparations, and diagnosing errors) gained from at least two years of experience on IT projects.
  • Numerate and proficient in market leading reporting software like SAP Business Objects (desirable), Ms Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Ms Access, etc.
  • Experienced in SQL writing and Oracle/Unix concepts is desirable.
  • You will facilitate meetings, prepare justification cases, conduct presentations and produce performance dashboards.

Nature and Scope:

You will be an important member of the Income Process & Projects team responsible for delivering the operational Income Management system developments and projects from Gate B through to full operational running (Gate D/E).
