Job Description

You will be providing Power BI development, diagnostic dashboard development and data visualisation supporting existing dashboards and working on new data projects.


Power BI Engineer


Hybrid, London


400 per day Inside IR35 with 10% bonus

Morgan McKinley is currently working with a leading education provider, who is seeking a Power BI Engineer. As the Power BI Engineer, you will be providing Power BI development, diagnostic dashboard development and data visualisation supporting existing dashboards and working on new data projects. We are looking for someone who has great experience with data manipulation, able to exploit data and push boundaries within your profession. Ideally you already have experience with Big Data and Data lakes.


Key Responsibilities -


  • Understand business requirements in BI context and designs data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights.

  • Create dashboards and interactive visual reports using Power BI.

  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) with clear objectives and consistently monitor those.

  • Analyse data and present data through reports that aid decision-making.

  • Works with users and team members at all levels to translate functional and non-functional requirements into dashboard visualisations and defines timelines to accomplish tasks.

  • Create relationships between data and develop tabular and other multidimensional data models.

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI scripts and perform detailed analytics.

  • Data warehouse development using Databricks.


Skills -


  • Experience working with Power BI and the DAX programming language.

  • Knowledge of data modelling fundamentals (e.g. Kimball modelling).

  • An understanding of performance optimisation in Power BI Awareness of Visualisation Best Practices.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Excel skills.

  • A results-oriented mindset with an eye for detail and a passion for data.

  • Exposure to end-to-end report delivery Knowledge of the various components of the Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing Platform (specifically Databricks).

  • Worked on enterprise-level report development with an understanding of scalable solutions.

  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.

  • Excellent analytical skills - with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
