Our client is a leading automotive manufacturer of prestige and high valued motor vehicles who strive to push the boundaries of innovation and set the benchmark for achieving excellence and high standards for their two iconic brands.
They are currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Paint Technician / Paint Sprayer to join their team in Gaydon working alongside a group of skilled Paint professionals assisting with the preparation of next generation vehicle models and designs of the future. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an ever-growing company where quality supersedes speed and perfection is top of the list working on clay, wood and carbon fibre models to create bespoke, high quality, full-sized vehicle models.
This role is offered on an initial contract basis with long-term opportunities available for the right candidates. All levels of qualifications are encouraged to apply however those with Level 3 qualifications in a relevant discipline alongside an Apprenticeship could be considered for a permanent position following a successful contracting period.
The role of a Paint Technician / Paint Sprayer will require you to use a broad range of paint and finishing skills including; paint preparation, spray painting, tinting and colouring. The ideal Paint Technician / Paint Sprayer will be experienced in using water-based paint and competent in paint spraying techniques with exposure to a range of materials including clay, wood and carbon fibre.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of panels for painting
- Colour matching and mixing of paints
- Spray painting using various spraying techniques
- Application of basecoats, primers, lacquers and finishes
- Flattening and polishing using specialist methods
- Experience of working with a variety of paints including;
- Solid and two-pack paints
- Metallic paints
- Pearlescent paints
- Matte finishes
- Special paints
- Experience of working with high-end cars is desirable
- Exposure to a range of materials is highly desirable including;
- Clay
- Wood
- Carbon Fibre
- Steel
- Aluminium
- Plastics
- Working to strict health and safety standards using the required PPE
- Working in a clean and tidy work manner
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- A City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in an automotive/body discipline completed as part of an apprenticeship is highly desired in order to be considered for a future permanent position.
- At least 5 years high-end bodywork experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge and practical understanding of H&S, C.O.S.H and environmental procedures
- Flexibility in working hours and location as per business needs.
- FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE REQUIRED (6 points maximum)
WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week + Overtime.

The successful Paint Technician / Paint Sprayer will join the department working on a Day Shift in order to familiarise themselves with the department, processes and systems:
Monday Thursday: 7.30am 16.00pm
Friday: 7.30am 12.30pm
Once familiar, the successful Paint Technician / Paint Sprayer will move onto a Rotating Shift Pattern:
Monday Thursday 6am 2pm / 2pm 10pm
Friday 6am 11am / 11am 4pm
PAY RATE:
Up to 24.68 per hour PAYEuplifted to 32.53 per hour to be paid via Umbrella PAYE
Final pay rate offered will be determined after interview based on skills and experience.
Please Note: This role is Inside of IR35.
The final pay rates offered are made up of three elements, Hourly pay rate, Holiday pay and Apex Recruitment s contribution to the payroll administrator s deductions (Umbrella pay rate).
