The Client
My client is a full-service engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting solutions firm with its head office based in the United States of America, whose singular mission for over 120 years has been to make their clients successful.
The UK venture for this US company is relatively new and whilst in the US they operate across multiple market sectors, here in the UK there is a keen focus on Electricity Transmission & Distribution.
This client has been extremely successful so far in the marketplace and has recently been awarded a framework agreement for National Grid to deliver substation projects valued between 5m - 50m across the UK for a period of 6 + 2 years. The client has started delivery on numerous projects across the UK, with many more to start in the new year.
Operating out of modern, plush offices in central Birmingham, this client has a clear vision of success and rapid growth here in the UK, with a core team that are experts in the field of Transmission & Distribution.
The Project
My client requires a site manager to oversee survey works for a period of 3 months, starting 11th December through to March 2023.
Job Description Summary
To assist the site and project managers and supervise and advise overhead line works on site including interfacing with and sensibly monitoring any subcontractors whilst feeding back the necessary information to the site and project manager.
Duration
3-month rolling contract starting 29th January 2024
Job Duties
- Ensure compliance to CDM regulations on site.
- Ensure all setting to work procedures are followed
- Ensure works are delivered to a programme whilst maintaining the highest standards of health and safety
- Produce reports and provide information in a timely manner
- To provide sufficient and timely supervision and guidance to ensure staff and sub-contractors are performing to agreed production levels
- To maintain own levels of skill and knowledge to do the job effectively
- To perform other duties as directed by your line manager or management team
- To comply with the relevant Company HSQE and welfare policy provisions
- To support clients and ensure all agreed KPIs are met or exceeded
- Promote best practice, capture best practice and ensure it is fed-back into the business.
- Lead by example in health, safety, quality & environmental management.
- Ensure quality standards are met and maintained throughout the project and assist with the generation of as built drawings
- Assist with the implementation of Safe Systems of Work including issuing Permits to Dig
- Set others to work and monitor throughout the task / project
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Full UK driving licence
National Grid OHL and/or Substations Persons
IOSHH Managing Safely or SMSTS or SSSTS
CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport
Minimum 5 years experience in an OHL role, preferably on National Grid sites
Previous experience in a supervisory level
Desirable
HNC / HND in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
Formal Electrical / Mechanical training
Formal OHL training
Impressed Voltage training
Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor experience
IOSH environmental or equivalent
