Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Minor Injuries Unit
Location: Bristol, United Kingdom
Position Summary: As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and treatment to patients with minor injuries. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver excellent patient outcomes and ensure efficient operations within the unit.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients with minor injuries, including cuts, sprains, fractures, and burns.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Administer medications and perform procedures, such as wound suturing, splinting, and minor surgical interventions, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach.
- Educate patients and their families about injury prevention, self-care techniques, and follow-up care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research activities to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, health and safety regulations, and professional standards in all aspects of clinical practice.
- Keep abreast of current advancements in minor injuries care through continuous professional development, attending relevant training programs, workshops, and conferences.
- Collaborate with community healthcare providers and agencies to facilitate seamless patient referrals and continuity of care.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with an active NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) PIN.
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a focus on minor injuries or urgent care.
- Experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in a minor injuries or urgent care setting is highly desirable.
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to make accurate and timely decisions.
- Proficient in performing minor procedures, such as suturing, splinting, and wound care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate critical thinking in complex clinical situations.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and professional guidelines governing nursing practice in the UK.
- Commitment to maintaining professional competence and engaging in lifelong learning.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per unit requirements.
