Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team in Clitheroe, Lancashire, located in North West England. This is a contract position, and we expect the successful candidate to work full-time hours.

Primary Industry

The primary industry for this role is Engineering, with a secondary focus on Energy, Oil and Gas.

Salary

The salary for this position ranges from 40.00 to 45.00 per hour.

Job Duties

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD software
  • Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and schematics
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure designs meet project requirements and specifications
  • Analyse and troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide solutions
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for proposed designs
  • Perform calculations and simulations to validate design performance
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for the procurement of materials and components
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and suggest design optimisations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design changes and updates

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role
  • Proficient in using CAD software for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practises
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in the Energy or Oil and Gas industry
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations

Working Conditions

The Mechanical Designer will primarily work in an office or design studio environment. However, occasional site visits may be required to assess project progress or collaborate with stakeholders. The role may involve working on multiple projects simultaneously, requiring excellent time management and prioritisation skills. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with deadlines and be adaptable to changing project requirements.
