Our client deploys permanent teams in the facilities and plants of its customers but also has its own operations at more than 200 locations. It has received awards from its customers for the quality of its services and its occupational safety standards. Based in Coventry, you will be working to maintain site assets which support the automotive and manufacturing industries. The role has come about due to an expanding team and now is a great time to get involved with this ambitious and dynamic organisation.

Your new role

The Maintenance and Facilities Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and budget management of all Production Equipment Maintenance (PEM) and Facility Services & Maintenance (FM) requirements across the Coventry site. The role includes the leadership responsibility for the site-based maintenance team members (tasks, performance, development, motivation) and for any subcontracted services required for either the PEM or FM areas of the business.

You will also be responsible for improving, implementing, and maintaining new technical processes and procedures and will lead Health and Safety standards in line with HSQE support functions. Implementing the Company's digital systems for PEM and FM will be a fundamental part of the role.

The Maintenance and Facilities Manager will ideally be experienced in developing and improving existing Safe System of Works and be competent in managing the services of HV and LV Electrical Systems (up to 11kV on site) are both legally and client compliant. The manager should be aware of the AP (Authorised Person), SAP (Senior Authorised Person), and AE (Authorising Engineer) roles to enable the organisation to be self-sufficient for the Coventry facility and be capable of signing off on "Competent Persons" assessments of the team to ensure training of staff.

The Maintenance and Facilities Manager will also be responsible for developing state of the art solutions in PEM and FM applications that can be promoted towards external customers from the organisations other service lines. When applicable you will be able to present to potential clients on relevant technology or services that could help improve their equipment and building resilience and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

Delivery

  • To ensure that all work performed by the maintenance/facilities department is conducted in a safe manner and to always comply with relevant Health & Safety regulations. This includes the supervision of subcontractors and their service engineers in association with any onsite service activities.

  • To manage and improve the current Planned Preventative Maintenance System for both production and facility assets. The deployment and development of OS (Computer Aided Facility Management system) that incorporates preventative maintenance schedules for infrastructure assets & Reactive Case management.

  • To ensure all necessary Service Contracts are in place to guarantee the plant and equipment is properly maintained and serviced to manufacturers recommendations and in line with Legal Compliance or ACOP's

  • Collaboration

  • To participate in the design of contingency procedures for asset breakdowns and ensure that appropriate emergency preparedness procedures are in place.

  • To assist in the allocation and measurement of approved KPIs and to trend departmental performance.

  • To identify opportunities for implementing improvements to working processes and assets. Undertake or assist with their implementation.

  • Moving Forward

  • To develop and support an "out of hours" reactive maintenance function working with the site based technical team &/or Sub-contractors for all aspects of critical plant and equipment.

  • What you'll need to succeed

    Essential

  • HNC/HND or NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance

  • Fault Finding capability
  • Problem resolution techniques
  • Electrical/mechanical maintenance and engineering background
  • All round Siemens S7 PLC knowledge and understanding at an operator level.
  • Building services (BMS/EMS)
  • Financial awareness
  • Microsoft Office packages - including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • CAFM system experience
  • Total Preventative Maintenance (knowledge and experience)

  • Full responsibility for running a technical facility department of multi-skilled technicians and administrative.

  • Maintenance management of large facility

  • Desirable

  • Degree NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance
  • Electrical HV & LV Systems to 3000kVa
  • SFG20 (Planned Maintenance Standards)
  • NIC/EIC implementation and maintenance there of
