Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Locum Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join a GP practice team based in Witham, Essex.
3 days per week, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
50 per hour, Outside IR35
Shifts 08:30-18:00
Initial 3-month contract
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality primary care services to patients of all ages. This locum position involves working autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with acute and chronic health conditions.
- Utilize advanced clinical skills and diagnostic reasoning to formulate accurate diagnoses and develop appropriate management plans.
Treatment and Prescribing:
- Independently manage and treat a wide range of common illnesses and minor injuries, prescribing medications and initiating referrals as necessary.
- Provide evidence-based interventions and therapies, including vaccinations, wound care, and minor surgical procedures.
Chronic Disease Management:
- Take a proactive approach to managing chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, through regular monitoring, education, and lifestyle interventions.
- Collaborate with patients to develop personalized care plans that optimize health outcomes and improve quality of life.
Health Promotion and Prevention:
- Promote health and well-being through patient education, counseling, and preventive care interventions.
- Offer advice on healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention strategies, and screening programs.
Emergency Care and Triage:
- Assess and manage patients presenting with urgent or emergency health concerns, providing timely interventions and referrals to appropriate services.
- Prioritize and triage patients based on clinical urgency and severity of symptoms.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with GPs, practice nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and clinical audits.
Clinical Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, documenting assessments, treatments, and outcomes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies.
Continuous Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge, skills, and competency.
- Stay abreast of current research, guidelines, and best practices in primary care and advanced nursing practice.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification (Master's degree or equivalent).
- Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Significant experience working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in a primary care or GP practice setting.
- Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
