Lead Special Project Accountant

An opportunity has arisen for an accountant to join a dynamic organisation in Birmingham.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the finance department, play a crucial role in refining processes, and be an integral part of the year-end statutory accounts preparation and audit activities.

You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Accountant in managing capital-related financial activities, contributing to ongoing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with statutory accounting standards.

A salary of 50,183 to 56,171 is offered along with a competitive benefits package. The position is offered on a hybrid working basis, with one to two days a week based in the office. This is a fixed term contract for 15 months which will allow for an extended handover period to ensure that you have the best possible start in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage capital accounting processes
• Enhance and automate processes related to capital accounting
• Assist in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts
• Work closely with the Chief Accountant to address queries from auditors
• Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance department
• Implement and refine automated solutions to streamline financial processes
• Play a key role in the audit process, working closely with auditors
• Address post-audit requirements and contribute to continuous improvement
• Generate financial reports related to capital accounts for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide insights and analysis to support decision-making processes

Skills and Experience:

• CCAB qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of capital accounting principles and practices
• Experience in refining and automating financial processes
• Knowledge of statutory accounting standards and audit procedures
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
