Our client is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and compliance within the financial industry. We are currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented KYC and Client Onboarding Executive to join our team. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding our organisation against financial crime and sanctions risks while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role is based at our London office, with a hybrid work arrangement of 3 days a week in office and 2 days remote.
Role Overview:
As a KYC and Client Onboarding Executive, you will operate within the first line of defence, employing a risk-based approach to identify and mitigate financial crime and sanctions risks associated with client onboarding and periodic due diligence. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and consistency in client information across our systems, while also escalating any potential risks to the appropriate channels for further investigation and action.
Key Role and Daily Tasks:
- Process client KYC files for new client onboarding and existing client reviews.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of client information in both EIC and the KYC system (ACCORD), including regulatory classifications.
- Escalate and report any potential financial crime or sanctions risks to the relevant channels.
- Investigate and document client ownership structures and ultimate beneficial owners.
- Assess and classify politically exposed persons (PEPs) and negative news articles.
- Monitor and escalate sanctions-related exposure and client risk profiles.
- Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to review and validate client documentation.
- Participate in on-the-job training of new team members.
- Contribute to process improvements and departmental efficiency enhancements.
- Prepare management information reports for bank committees.
- Stay informed about changes to regulatory frameworks related to financial crime, sanctions, and AML.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A good understanding of regulatory frameworks associated with financial crime, sanctions, and AML.
- Previous experience in a CDD team within a financial institution is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues and regulatory requirements.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and consistency in documentation.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and processes.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to contribute to process improvements.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
