Job Description: This role is for a Junior Fellow in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, offering a fixed-term contract starting ASAP. Main duties of the job This post combines duties at a busy university hospital, district general hospital and ISTC and will provide the trainee with experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including Dento-alveolar surgery, dental and maxillofacial trauma, facial deformity, oral cancer, skin cancer, salivary gland diseases, TMJ disorders, facial deformity / orthognathic surgery, oral mucosal pathology and facial pain. There is a regular in house protected teaching programme in addition to the mandatory regional teaching programme. The trainee will undertake audits and will have ample opportunities to get involved in projects leading to presentations and publications. There are regular head and neck and facial deformity MDT's and joint clinics, which the trainee will have opportunities to attend.

Job Description Of Training And Educational Objectives Develop a further understanding of the assessment and management of maxillofacial trauma. Develop a further understanding of the assessment and management of patients presenting with facial deformity Develop a further understanding of the assessment and management of patients presenting with head and neck pathology. Develop an understanding of the management of medically compromised patients requiring dental or OMFS treatment. Completion of competencies within all domains of the GPT curriculum Develop skills in soft tissue and skin cancer management

Additional Information Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists). Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process. Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular.
