Job Title: Java Back End Developer
Location: 3 days per week on-site in Glasgow
Salary/Rate: 400/day Inside IR35
Start Date: 12/02/24
Job Type: Contract (Inside)

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading Investment Banking clients!

They are currently looking for a skilled Java Back End Developer to join their team on a 12 month contract for an App modernisation program.

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

1. Recent hands-on professional experience as a back-end software engineer in an agile, dynamic and customer facing environment
2. Recent experience with using a JVM language (Java/Scala/Kotlin, preferably Java 8 )
3. Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
4. Understanding of RESTful APIs and web technologies
5. Understanding of Data structures, Space / Time Complexity
6. Experience in all the stages of software development lifecycle (requirements, design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, release and support)

Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

1. Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
2. Understanding of security frameworks / standards
3. Understanding of data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
4. Understanding of containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)

You will be responsible for following:

1. Analyzing requirements, work with scrum master on understanding of the JIRA stories
2. Implementation of story assigned
3. Get the stories deployed to UAT at the end of sprint and work with users to obtain UAT sign off
4. Work with Release Management Team on Prod Implementation
5. Provide Post Prod Support
6. Participate in JIRA Backlog grooming activity
