Interim Programme Director

Hybrid (Midlands)

800-900/day

6 month initial contract

Our client have merger two manufacturing businesses and need a someone to manage a programme of end-to-end process, people and IT integration, plus a physical move to a new manufacturing and office site.

You will need to set up the programme structure and run the work to ensure delivery on time, to budget, identifying and mitigating risks and to meet a high standard of execution that embodies and embed the company s vision and values.

Outcome is a successful integration of processes, systems and people within a new building by end of Q4 2024 and focus must be place on business continuity.

Given the work will encompass IT, process, real estate and organisation change, to be considered you must have demonstrable experience of these elements to be able to conduct the role successfully and ensure minimum disruption through the changes.

You will ned to demonstrate your ability to work and report to C-Suite level but must equally possess the experience, communication skills and emotional intelligence to interface with all functions of the business at all levels to drive the right outcomes on the project and ensure people are included, supported and involved along the change and transition journey.

Key accountabilities:

Project and PMO set up establish a structure and plan for the end to end project, which includes multiple workstreams and reports into the SLT.

There will be multiple workstreams to oversee delivery including:

People & Change - reorganisation of people and some changes to roles will be part of the scope, as well as communications

Real Estate - exiting one site and moving activities to both a brand new site proximate to the existing buildings and an existing site, and support fit-out of that site

IT systems integration integration and upgrade of multiple instances of Epicor and some supporting IT infrastructure and management systems

Process Engineering streamlining and process change of existing operations and some management processes

Programme Resource Management- accountable for ensuring the programme has the right skills and capabilities and team management practices to deliver successfully

Governance and reporting- accountable for setting up the right meetings and membership to report progress, finances, and risks & issues to the SLT.

Quality Management responsible for ensuring the workstreams and overall programme deliver in  a consistent, structured and rigorous way

Time Management Responsible for meeting milestones on time and management slippages and contingency as part of the plan

Budget/Financial Management Responsible for managing the overall programme budgets and reporting the financials to the SLT

Business Continuity Minimise business disruption; value and benefits will be realised after the project end so focus must be on steady state

Critical capabilities:

Project/Programme Management skills People and Change Management, Planning, Finance and Budgeting, Reporting/Governance skills are required as an entry point.

PMO skills Methods (waterfall and agile), toolsets, systems to set up and provide ongoing support to the project are required (as the project progresses this may become an additional support structure but in initial phase the PM is expected to set this up).

Manufacturing Industry knowledge It is critical that you have worked within the manufacturing sector so possesses a good understanding of the industry drivers, challenges and ways of working to have credibility with the stakeholders and direct team.

Relationship and Change Management skills Able to work with C-suite and across and down the organisation with ease, communicating in a targeted way and partnering with the HR Director and HR function to ensure change gets embedded.

You will also need to oversee, challenge and ensure delivery of critical workstreams within the programme. As such, skills and knowledge will also be needed of the following disciplines:

IT and process engineering skills and knowledge experience of project management of IT integration projects (Strong ERP knowledge is a bonus) and process engineering change projects will be required in order to challenge and manage the workstreams delivering this scope

Organisational change Should have managed organisation model change before including setting up and embedding operational models and experience of change and communication plans to support the change

Real estate management Will have managed projects that involve physical relocation to a new site and the challenges involved with the design, logistics, communication and HSE elements of a building move

Go-live and post go-live hand over to continuous improvement Must have a demonstrable track record of seeing projects through to go-live and cut over processes and management of IT and process change (including testing and fall back plans), plus knowledge of handing over to steady state/CI teams for ongoing management of the new organisation.
