The main responsibilities of the Interim Director of Finance/Deputy Section 151 will be:
- Run the finance team on a day to day basis.
- Ensure the closedown of accounts runs smoothy and on time. The bulk of this work is done by the chief accountant who reports into this role.
- Management of the budgets.
- Make improvements across finance including getting the basics working well, reviewing processes and procedures and ensuring finance is running as efficiently as it can be.
This is a great role to work with a large and complex local authority for a substantial contract. The role is hybrid and ideally the candidate will work two days per week in the office although there can be flexibility for the right person.
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous local government experience.
- Acted as a Deputy Section 151 or Section 151 previously.
- Comfortable managing a large team and working in a complex environment.
- Be immediately available or on a short notice period.
