Are you passionate about preventing and relieving homelessness? We are seeking a dedicated Homelessness Advice Officer to join our Communities, Culture & Homes team at Grade 8. This role reports to the Homelessness Manager and plays a crucial part in the City Councils commitment to housing and supporting homeless households.
Purpose Of Job
The Homelessness Advice Officer is responsible for preventing and relieving homelessness, managing accommodation, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. The role involves delivering services in line with the City Council's Equal Opportunity policy.
Key Accountabilities & Duties
Interview and investigate homelessness claims, obtaining detailed information on housing, financial, social, and health circumstances.
Prevent and relieve homelessness, mediating between customers and housing providers.
Provide statutory advice and assistance on homelessness, housing advice, and related matters.
Record and maintain confidential case notes and client records in compliance with data protection legislation.
Assist with Homeseeker Lettings inquiries, liaise with other sections, and contribute to reports and referrals.
Work in partnership with multi-agency colleagues to meet client needs.
Core Responsibilities And Deliverables
Deliver Homelessness services within budget.
Comply with financial policies, HR policies, and Health and Safety regulations.
Participate in team and Council-wide activities for continuous improvement.
Person Specification
Knowledge of relevant legislation around Homelessness and Housing.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload, and meet statutory targets.
Mediation and negotiation skills.
Experience in lone working and administrative duties.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Teamworking experience and IT literacy.
