Job Title: Data Analyst - Public Health (3-Month Contract)

Location: Southwark, London (Hybrid)

Pay Rate: Negotiable

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Data Analyst to join a dynamic team at a local authority in Southwark. This is a 3-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement, providing a unique chance to contribute to Public Health initiatives and further develop your career in this field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take a strategic lead on health intelligence projects, applying innovative bio-statistical, epidemiological, and econometric approaches to large datasets.
  2. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of health intelligence approaches and the Public Health evidence base, informing regional and local program delivery, policies, and procedures.
  3. Manage large confidential datasets in accordance with information governance principles, following local agreements with the data controller (e.g., NHS Digital).
  4. Utilise advanced analytical tools, including Excel, MapInfo, SAS Enterprise, Stata, and Power BI.
  5. Lead the development and production of major public health reports and programs, contributing to initiatives addressing health inequalities.
  6. Conduct evaluations and needs assessments to measure the outcome and benefit of Public Health interventions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Public Health, statistics, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience using statistical methods to inform needs assessments through the analysis and interpretation of key Public Health and Council data.
  • Experience applying public health techniques, including health needs assessments, equity audits, and evaluations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High standard of report writing and communication skills, presenting complex information in easily understood formats to various audiences.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesise complex information, including epidemiological data, using specialist software (Excel, MapInfo, Stata, SPSS, R, Power BI).

Additional Information:

  • This role may require occasional evening and weekend meetings and events in various locations across the borough.
  • The pay rate for this position is negotiable based on experience.
