An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Data Analyst to join a dynamic team at a local authority in Southwark. This is a 3-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement, providing a unique chance to contribute to Public Health initiatives and further develop your career in this field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take a strategic lead on health intelligence projects, applying innovative bio-statistical, epidemiological, and econometric approaches to large datasets.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of health intelligence approaches and the Public Health evidence base, informing regional and local program delivery, policies, and procedures.
- Manage large confidential datasets in accordance with information governance principles, following local agreements with the data controller (e.g., NHS Digital).
- Utilise advanced analytical tools, including Excel, MapInfo, SAS Enterprise, Stata, and Power BI.
- Lead the development and production of major public health reports and programs, contributing to initiatives addressing health inequalities.
- Conduct evaluations and needs assessments to measure the outcome and benefit of Public Health interventions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Postgraduate qualification in Public Health, statistics, or equivalent.
- Proven experience using statistical methods to inform needs assessments through the analysis and interpretation of key Public Health and Council data.
- Experience applying public health techniques, including health needs assessments, equity audits, and evaluations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High standard of report writing and communication skills, presenting complex information in easily understood formats to various audiences.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesise complex information, including epidemiological data, using specialist software (Excel, MapInfo, Stata, SPSS, R, Power BI).
Additional Information:
- This role may require occasional evening and weekend meetings and events in various locations across the borough.
- The pay rate for this position is negotiable based on experience.
