Harvey Nash’s client are recruiting for a Head of Data Protection on a 23 month contract. Working for a high profile public Inquiry, this role will involve managing a small data protection team while performing the duties of a data protection officer. There will be a number of other responsibilities, including but not limited to, providing training and support and monitoring the quality of the work of the data protection team, reviewing relevant policies, procedures and guidance, and ensuring that there is a clear governance and risk management structure in place for all data and information security processes in accordance with data protection legislation

Essential Criteria:

• A deep understanding of data protection and its practical application
• A strong background in risk management, including data and information security risk management
• Experience of managing teams and, in particular, the ability to motivate and train key members of staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build constructive relationships across SCAI and with external colleagues
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work across teams and manage competing priorities. This will require a flexible and proactive approach
• A commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to remain up to date with new legislation and IT security methods
• A high degree of resilience and ability to deal with what can be a distressing subject area.

This role will be primarily office based with up to two days per week working from home.
