Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Head of Business Development and Sales for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of 400/day (inside IR35).. This role will be hybrid working with one day (Thursday) in the office per week.

Responsibilities:

- Review and develop new business and sales growth, implementing new business initiatives to drive sales and growth across organisation. Including development and management of own accounts. Working closely with the Director to confirm scope and any new areas of work
- Review and report on analysis of opportunities and new sectors for new and existing products and services to be sold to.
- Investigate and communicate any product development required to services and operations, to assess viability of potential sales.
- Discuss new opportunities identified with the Director to confirm strategic alignment and ROI and confirm progression.
- Manage and develop the pipeline of opportunities to deliver new revenue streams.
- Oversee, develop and execute multi-channel approaches.
- Set up and collaborate on business meetings to develop and close sales.
- Lead on and coordinate events and conference schedule.
- Analyse and prepare recommendations on business development and detailed sales planning, forecasting income and cost to deliver agreed Return on Investment (ROI), providing data analysis of likely timelines, volume and sizes of markets
- Manage direct reports, setting and ensuring delivery to strategic objectives and targets
- Manage a new business development manager role: Support delivery of business development in two other Directorates
- As a member of the management team, engage with the Directorate strategy, collaborating with peer Heads of Section for Services and Technical Operations.
- Contribute to delivering multi-year income targets, reporting on Business development and sales MI monthly, quarterly and annually.
- Close and agile working with peers Heads of Section, across the organisation to develop and execute coherent plans and strategies

Essential Skills:

- Professionally qualified/relevant business degree or relevant equivalent experience in a similar post
- Proven record of leading sales growth, to deliver to targets. Either in IT environment or evidence of fast paced learning of new sectors to deliver sales
- Industry research experience, to assess new markets, leading to sales opportunities
- Line management experience, able to motivate teams to deliver to sales targets.
- Effective planning, management and delivery of sales plan and resources to deliver to agreed budget and ROI
- Excellent communication, networking, relationship building and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work with all customers and levels of the organisation, building and maintaining relationships at a senior level internally and externally
- Enthusiasm for the role and organisation's potential

Desirable Skills:

- Technology qualification and or knowledge of technology areas
- Interim experience (highly desirable)
- Culture/Organisational skills
- Experience of developing a brand within a start-up environment
- Developing the needs/benefit case for the new product and proposing changes to the product to meet other customer needs.
- Experience or knowledge of geospatial or IOT data, computational notebooks or data management
- Experience of using Salesforce or similar CRM system, to support account management and sales processes.
- Knowledge of DPA/DPIA/GDPR legislation
- Experience of working in the Higher Education sector
