What will you be responsible for?
- To carry out important tasks related to the annual statutory accounts process, such as creating and maintaining group consolidation tools and software, ensuring that enough data is gathered from group entities to support this process, and preparing the year-end consolidated balance sheets and profit and loss accounts. Leading the roll out of a new group consolidation program to deliver monthly (for management) and yearly (for statutory purposes) consolidation P&L and balance sheet reporting to stringent deadlines will be part of this.
- Gathering all the data needed for the notes to the accounts, such as creating director emoluments schedules, creating warranty workings for two UK companies, and converting unaudited financial statements from a foreign firm so that it could be included in the group consolidation. It will be essential to coordinate with external auditors during the process and review draft financial statements.
- Prepare and keep a summary of the variations in accounting treatment between UK GAAP and local GAAP. Using this, amend consolidated group results as needed.
- Complete year-end revenue recognition tasks to guarantee that contracts that span year-end are accurately amended when needed. Investigating the positions of other group entities along the contracting chain and communicating to guarantee an accurate group position may also be necessary for this.
- Overseeing the UK company tax reporting procedure and making sure timely and accurately prepared returns are filed.
- To create the yearly R&D tax claims and yearly Patent Box claims, working with employees of the relevant UK companies, in an effort to save a substantial amount of money on taxes by applying expertise and analysis of the business' financial data.
- Detailed knowledge of accounting standards and financial statutory requirements.
- Knowledge of UK R&D Tax legislation.
- Working knowledge of current UK tax legislation.
- Understanding of VAT rules and reporting requirements.
- Interrogation, extraction and manipulation of data from ERP systems (Syspro, Netsuite, Navision, etc.)
- Preparation of consolidated, multi-currency financial statements and use of consolidation software/packages.
- Extensive use of advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel pivot tables and VLOOKUPs).
- ACCA/ACA qualified - 5 years PQ experience.
