Job Description: This role is for an interim Head of FP&A in a technology company operating within a Private Equity environment. The position involves leading financial planning and analysis during a critical growth phase, focusing on strategic development and financial efficiency. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in FP&A within the technology sector and a strong understanding of Private Equity dynamics. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all FP&A activities, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning for a PE-backed technology business
  • Develop, refine, and maintain sophisticated financial models (including SaaS metrics, scenario analysis, valuation models, and ROI analysis) to support key strategic initiatives, M&A due diligence, and investment decisions
  • Establish and monitor key financial and operational KPIs, providing regular, insightful analysis of business performance against targets
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and presentations for PE owners, demonstrating a deep understanding of value creation levers and fund-specific reporting requirements
  • Business partnering with the executive leadership team (CEO, Sales, Product, Marketing, etc.), providing commercial insights and challenging assumptions
  • Identify and drive initiatives to enhance financial efficiency, control costs, and improve profitability, aligning with the PE investment
  • Potentially lead and mentor a small FP&A team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Drive improvements in financial systems and processes to enhance data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and analytical capabilities

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience as a Head of FP&A, Finance Director, or similar senior financial planning role within a technology company
  • Significant and demonstrable experience working directly with Private Equity firms, understanding their investment cycles, value creation drivers, and reporting expectations
  • Deep understanding of the financial and operational intricacies of the technology sector, including SaaS business models, recurring revenue, customer acquisition costs, and churn
  • Expert-level proficiency in complex financial modelling (Excel and relevant FP&A software), capable of building robust, flexible, and accurate models from the ground up
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear strategic insights and actionable recommendations that drive commercial success
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence senior executive and PE stakeholders
