About the role
In your role as Finance Project Manager (Platform Programme) you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.
This role will provide a great opportunity to to manage all the Finance workstreams, and Finance related work packages, of the Platform Programme, so that they are delivered on-time and in line with internal stakeholder expectations.
To be part of the Programme Management PM team, delivering their specific project responsibilities, holistically, within the wider programme plan and objectives.
What you will be doing
As a trusted part of the Group Transformation you will be responsible for:
- Form close working relationships with USS internal stakeholders to ascertain and shape their delivery expectations
- Management of key external supplier delivery relationships
- Manage the planning, set-up and delivery of the Finance work areas (initially - Payroll workstream, all Finance system interfaces, development and delivery of all Finance requirements) across all technical, process and organisational elements, within the wider Platform Programme
- Workstream and work package management in line with the USS programme governance standards and cadence
- Ensure that appropriate controls are in place, in line with programme governance frameworks, to ensure effective governance and control of the work areas throughout its lifecycle
- Lead the Finance workstreams in a controlled, structured and holistic manner as part of the wider strategic programme ensuring change is delivered to the business with minimal disruption to the operational environment

To be successful in the role you will have:
- Awareness of leadership, organisational, delegation and team building skills for the effective people management across large/interrelated technology projects
- Comfortable with ambiguity; and capable of taking high-level direction and turning that into specific actions related to the Finance areas of the programme
- Excellent verbal communication skills; able to get messages across to, and work with, all levels in USS
- Networking, presentation, negotiating and influencing skills
- Good level of planning and scheduling skills, ensuring the complex activities of interrelated project teams are controlled, co-ordinated and linked into the overall portfolio plan
- Ability to challenge and excellent decision-making skills
- Ability to produces clear and concise written communications
