Job Title: Enterprise Architect

Contract: 6 months initially

Hybrid working: Birmingham

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Enterprise Architect to contribute to the development of the University's overall strategy, with a specific focus on refining the IT strategy. The successful candidate will play a key role in reviewing and maintaining technology capability maps, implementing application portfolio management, and identifying areas where architectural policies and standards need to be established.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy Development:

    • Contribute to the development of the University strategy, ensuring alignment with IT objectives.
    • Refine and enhance the IT strategy to support the overall organizational goals.
  2. Technology Capability Mapping:

    • Review and maintain technology capability maps, ensuring they accurately represent the organization's IT landscape.
  3. Application Portfolio Management:

    • Implement and oversee application portfolio management processes to optimize the use of technology resources.
  4. Architectural Policies and Standards:

    • Identify areas where architectural policies and standards are required.
    • Propose a governance structure for the approval and enforcement of policies and standards.
  5. Enterprise Architecture (EA) Tool Implementation:

    • Implement an EA tool, defining the scope and cost of the service.
    • Utilize the tool to enhance decision-making and strategic planning processes.
  6. Architectural Blue-Print:

    • Contribute to the development of the architectural blue-print, outlining the organization's future-state architecture.
  7. Experience and Expertise:

    • Demonstrate experience in developing EA capability for medium-sized organizations.
    • Utilize knowledge of TOGAF and modelling languages (Archimate) to inform architectural decisions.
  8. Policy Document Development:

    • Leverage experience to write formal policy documents that align with industry best practices and organizational needs.
  9. EA Governance:

    • Develop and implement an effective EA governance framework to ensure the alignment of IT initiatives with organizational goals.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in enterprise architecture, particularly in medium-sized organizations.
  • Certification in TOGAF is required.
  • Proficiency in modelling languages, such as Archimate.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Experience in writing formal policy documents and establishing governance structures.
