Overall Purpose of Job:

As a Digital Web Analyst for the local authority in Newham, London, you will play a crucial role in setting up and maintaining tools to comprehensively monitor activity across the digital estate. Your responsibilities will include reviewing, developing, and leading the web analytics framework for monitoring and reporting data. You'll be the subject matter expert on web analytics, collaborating with services to enhance online platforms and user journeys. Building strategic relationships with stakeholders and effectively influencing improvements to deliver enhanced services and outcomes for residents is key. Additionally, managing project teams, delegated budgets, and external suppliers will be part of your role, ensuring innovative and creative use to benefit residents while containing expenditure within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set up relevant tools for comprehensive monitoring of the digital estate.
  2. Review, develop, and lead the web analytics framework for monitoring and reporting data.
  3. Be the subject matter expert on web analytics, working with services to make improvements.
  4. Build strategic relationships with stakeholders and influence to deliver improved services.
  5. Manage project teams, delegated budgets, and external suppliers innovatively and within budget constraints.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Understanding of Local Government (advantageous).
  • Awareness of information governance issues and legislation.
  • Understanding of the political context and environment.
  • Previous experience in a web analytics role.
  • Knowledge of specialist web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Site Improve).
  • Familiarity with online user journey analysis.
  • Knowledge of CRM and CMS systems and how web analytics are configured across these platforms.
  • Understanding of search engine optimisation.
  • Experience in tracking calls to action across websites.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools to communicate insights.
